Top Fiat Safety Features of 2018

2018 FIAT 500X

Deciding which new car to buy is never an easy decision. With so many different makes and models to choose from, it is usually necessary to decide which factors are most important and then narrow down your choices based on these criteria. Fuel efficiency, reliability, performance, style and comfort are obviously important factors. However, the truth is that none of these factors are as important as safety. Luckily, the vast majority of new vehicles come with a wide array of advanced safety features designed to protect you and your family whenever you’re on the road. That being said, some makes and models obviously perform far better than others in terms of safety and crash test ratings, and FIAT is one of those brands that excels. With this in mind, we’ll now take a look at some of the top safety features drivers can expect from a new 2018 FIAT.

FIAT: The Safety to Get You Wherever You Need to Go

The 2018 FIAT lineup includes five models: FIAT 500, FIAT 500X, FIAT 500L, FIAT 500e and FIAT 124 Spider. All of the FIAT 500 models are based on the same compact platform, and as a result, they share most of the same safety features. Drivers and passengers are protected by seven airbags that surround the entire interior. This includes both front-impact and side-impact airbags as well as overhead and knee airbags.

Drivers also gain the advantage of a four-wheel disc anti-lock brake system for improved stopping power. The system automatically monitors the speed of each tire and it can independently apply the brake to each wheel as needed. In this way, the ABS provides improved handling and control while also helping to prevent skidding or wheel lock-up.

In addition to ABS, all 2018 FIAT 500 models also feature the manufacturer’s Electronic Stability Control system. This system also monitors your driving in order to prevent a loss of control. If the system detects a difference between the direction you are steering and the direction the vehicle is in travelling, such as if you start to skid or slide, it can automatically reduce engine power and apply the brakes to any of the four wheels to ensure you remain in control. Thanks to this ESC system, drivers can head out in adverse conditions confident in the knowledge that their FIAT has their back.

The 2018 FIAT 124 Spider sports car also features many of the same features found on all FIAT 500 models. For instance, drivers can still take advantage of anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control for improved traction and handling. As well, drivers and passengers are still protected by both front-impact and side-impact airbags.

The FIAT 124 Spider and all FIAT 500 models also feature a reinforced steel safety frame that is designed to provide added protection to the entire passenger compartment. This high-strength steel frame uses crumple zones that work to absorb and redirect energy away from the passenger compartment in the event of a collision, which should help to lower the risk of serious injury.

The FIAT 124 Spider also provides additional safety measures to help keep you safe when changing lanes. This is in the form of its Blind Spot Monitoring System, which will automatically alert you to any vehicles in your blind spot. This same feature is also available on the 2018 FIAT 500X, which also comes available with a Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning system with Active Braking.

Although all of the above safety features are excellent, the truth is that this is really only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the range of features drivers can enjoy on any new 2018 FIAT. This is why you really need to check out the entire 2018 FIAT lineup for yourself.
