The Phoenix Mercury are back for a summer of basketball and fun. The 3-time WNBA champions will be fighting for the gold once again, showing off their skills as top players in women’s basketball.
Featuring famous players like Brittney Griner, Sonja Petrovic and Alex Harden, the Mercury is one of the all-time favorite teams in the WNBA, making Phoenix residents proud as one of the city's best loved and best scoring professional teams.
This season, the Mercury will be playing teams, such as the New York Liberty, Dallas Wings, San Antonio Starts, Chicago Sky and Los Angeles Sparks, fighting their way to the WNBA championship, where they hope to come out victorious once again.
This year, the team will get All-Star Kelsey Bone, who has been a rising star in women’s basketball over the last few seasons.
“In-season trades rarely net you an All-Star like Kelsey Bone,” said Mercury General Manager Jim Pitman. “Even though she is in just her fourth year, Kelsey is an established talent in our league and we think this deal makes us a better team today and in the future. She competes, she rebounds, has great size, and plays with great strength and toughness on both ends of the floor. We are excited about her potential here in Phoenix.”
