Conventional Oil
Conventional motor oil is the cheapest, most common type available on the market. It's recommended for light-duty vehicles that rarely travel far from home, especially for those whose regional temperature doesn't change by much between the seasons. It's manufactured from crude oil found deep within the ground that gets refined in a factory, similar to producing gasoline.
Full Synthetic Oil
Unlike conventional oil, fully synthetic motor oil is made entirely in a lab or factory to create a much more refined product at a higher cost compared to conventional oil. Compared to other types of motor oil, it can provide the best lubrication, performance enhancement, and protection against oxidation resistance, thermal breakdown, and oil sludge. It's especially great for driving in places of extreme heat or cold and can safely replace conventional oil in any engine. Full synthetic motor oil also lasts longer between oil changes than conventional.
Synthetic Blends
Synthetic blended oil can offer many full synthetic benefits at a cheaper cost, such as higher resistance to oxidation and the ability to last longer between oil changes. It's a mix of fully synthetic and conventional oils combined with beneficial additives and safely replace straight conventional.
High Mileage
High mileage oils are special varieties of conventional, full synthetic, and synthetic blends. Their selling point is the additives they include to improve the health of engines of 75,000 miles, such as a seal conditioner to prevent and minimize oil leaks. Motor oils designated for high mileage engines are usually very effective at reducing oil consumption and emissions.
