How Often Should I Service My Fiat 500L?
Like any car, your Fiat 500L requires routine maintenance and services to be as healthy and robust as possible. However, your Fiat's optimal service schedule may differ from that of other vehicles. Each auto manufacturer establishes its recommendations for its vehicles. Therefore, you'll want to follow the Fiat 500L maintenance schedule that's printed in the owner's manual for your car to ensure that your Fiat gets the care that it needs when necessary. Fiat 500L service intervals start at 20,000 miles and continue from there to 100,000 miles and beyond. In between these mileage-based services, you'll also need to have the car's oil changed, and its tires rotated.
20,000-Mile Service
When your car reaches 20,000 miles, it will probably be due for its third or fourth oil change, depending on how often you change the oil in your car. It may also need to have the tires rotated, which typically occurs about every 5,000 miles or so. Along with those services, your Fiat will have its universal joints and CV joints inspected. The front suspension system will be evaluated along with the boot seals and tie rod ends. The car's complete braking system will also get checked at this point. The brake connections, linings, and the parking brake will be inspected, and your mechanic may also replace the brake fluid if your car is two years old. The cabin air filter may be replaced. The vehicle's sunroof tracks will be cleaned and lubricated to ensure your sunroof functions properly on the outside.
30,000-Mile Service
Your Fiat 500L will be due for its following services at 30,000 miles. Some of the parts checked at 20,000 will be reinspected at 30,000 miles if they have not yet been replaced, such as the suspension and CV joints. The engine air filter is also on the inspection list at 30,000 miles, and the spark plugs may be replaced. However, spark plugs are generally changed on a Fiat 500L by year rather than mileage.
100,000-Mile Service
The next scheduled service for your Fiat 500L comes at 100,000 miles. The engine fluid may be flushed and replaced at this point. This service may also wait until the 150,000-mile checkup based on its condition. The PCV valve will also be inspected and possibly replaced at 100,000 miles.
150,000-Mile Service
At 150,000 miles, your Fiat will have its timing belt inspected and replaced if it hasn't been changed yet.
