What's New For The 2019 FIAT 500X?

FIAT's 500 model crossover has hit the midpoint of its cycle, and they seem to have pinned the aesthetics of the vehicle down. Externally, the 2019 500X looks a great deal like the 2018 model (which is no bad thing). FIAT has streamlined the body a bit, rounding out its headlights and fog lamps, shrinking the wheels an inch, and chopping down a few extraneous exterior features for an overall neater, more modern look.

Where FIAT really went to work, though, is under the hood. Sporting a brand new turbocharged 1.3L straight-four engine, the 2019 model's motor is physically smaller than last year's, but finely tuned valve timing and turbo charging technology have made it more powerful than its 2018 predecessor while simultaneously significantly improving its gas mileage. A brand new automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive setting that now comes standard make the 2019 500X one of the most versatile vehicles that FIAT has ever produced.

Which Trims and Features are Available for 2019?

The 2019 FIAT 500X is available in three trim levels: the base Pop version, the rugged Trekking model, and the luxurious and robust Trekking Plus model.

The base Pop trim comes standard with all the improvements of the 2019 model, including the more powerful engine and brand new automatic transmission and standard togglable all-wheel-drive, along with cloth seats. The Trekking model is a step up, with tinted windows, an included one-year subscription to satellite radio, handsome quilted seats and upholstery, a luggage rack, and a driver information display conveniently located among the vehicle's gauges. The Trekking Plus option offers a whole host of luxurious features, including heated leather seats, LED lamps, built-in GPS navigation, a heated windshield, automatic climate control, and more.

Impressive Power & Performance in a Small Package

2019 FIAT 500X Exterior FrontThe 2019 FIAT 500 X has a brand new 1.3L 4 cylinder inline engine and it's one of the smallest engines available in an American-sold vehicle, but precision engineering and optimization make it punch way above its weight class. The engine's Multi-Air III variable valve timing technology and a low-inertia turbocharger, complete with electronically actuated wastegate, mean that the FIAT boasts 177-hp and a class-leading 210 lb-ft of torque, putting the 2019 500X in a position to compete with any vehicle in its class in terms of sheer power.

The smaller, more efficient motor gives the vehicle a leg up in gas mileage, getting an impressive projected 23 city miles per gallon, and an even better 29 highway miles to the gallon.
