What's New For the 2020 Fiat 124 Spider?

The iconic Fiat 124 Spider is back. For 2020, not very many updates were deemed necessary. This is because the current generation debuted in 2017. The Abarth trim level does add a new appearance package this year, however. With it, the 124 Spider gains a hood decal as well as a side stripe.

The Fiat 124 Spider Has Many Features Across Several Trims

You have your pick of four different trims when it comes to the 124 Spider. The first is known as the Classica. The standard for this model are features such as Bluetooth, push-button start, leather on the steering wheel, and keyless entry. It also gets a 7" touchscreen for the infotainment system. Drivers can also choose the Urbana trim. This trim gets unique wheels, matte grey interior touches, and piano black exterior accents. The next option is known as the Lusso. It adds automatic climate control, heated seats, satellite radio, and automatic headlights. The top-of-the-line Abarth gives the 124 Spider a special sport steering wheel, leather, and microsuede on the seats, and a drive-mode select feature. Sports seats are available for this trim exclusively.

2020 124 Spider Power & Performance

All three trim levels have the same great engine residing underneath their hoods. The turbocharged 1.4L four-cylinder makes 160-horsepower for the Classica and Lusso trim levels. For the Abarth, it manages to generate 164-horsepower. All models also get 184 lb-ft of torque from this engine. The 2020 124 Spider comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, with a six-speed automatic available. The 124 Spider is a rear-wheel-drive vehicle.

Which Safety Features are Available on the 124 Spider?

There are several safety features built-in to the 124 Spider. These include a backup camera, electronic stability control, and a steel safety frame. Available are also advanced driver aids, such as blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection. Between these two, changing lanes and backing out of parking spaces is safer and easier than ever. Optional on the Lusso and Abarth trim levels is the Visibility Group package. It not only helps you see at night, but also makes it easier for other drivers to see you by adding features such as adaptive headlights, an automatic headlight leveling system, LED daytime running lights, and a headlamp washer. That last feature prevents debris and dirt from building up on your headlights and potentially impacting your visibility.
